Cause of All Causes – Sunday Meditations

From Bhagavat-Purana 1.1.1

“It is natural that a philosophical mind wants to know about the origin of the creation. At night he sees the stars in the sky, and he naturally speculates about their inhabitants. Such inquiries are natural for man because man has a developed consciousness which is higher than that of the animals.

The author of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam gives a direct answer to such inquiries. He says that the Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the origin of all creations. He is not only the creator of the universe, but the destroyer as well. The manifested cosmic nature is created at a certain period by the will of the Lord. It is maintained for some time, and then it is annihilated by His will.

Therefore, the supreme will is behind all cosmic activities. Of course, there are atheists of various categories who do not believe in a creator, but that is due to a poor fund of knowledge. The modern scientist, for example, has created space satellites, and by some arrangement or other, these satellites are thrown into outer space to fly for some time at the control of the scientist who is far away. Similarly, all the universes with innumerable stars and planets are controlled by the intelligence of the Personality of Godhead…”

Divine Consciousness – Supreme Peace and Joy

Bg 7.12 — Know that all states of being – be they of goodness, passion or ignorance – are manifested by My energy. I am, in one sense, everything, but I am independent. I am not under the modes of material nature, for they, on the contrary,  are within Me.

Bg 7.13 — Deluded by the three modes [goodness, passion and ignorance], the whole world does not know Me, who am above the modes and inexhaustible.

“…But although life is temporary and we do not know what we are going to be in the next life, by the spell of this illusory energy we consider ourselves in terms of this bodily conception of life, and we thus think that we are American, Indian, Russian, or brāhmaṇa, Hindu, Muslim, etc.

And if we become entangled with the modes of material nature, then we forget the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is behind all these modes. So Lord Kṛṣṇa says that living entities deluded by these three modes of nature do not understand that behind the material background is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.”

The Sun – Source of Life and Strength

“We meditate upon the supreme effulgence of the Divine creative Sun, that he may give impulse to our intelligence.” Rig Veda III 62.10

The Sun (Surya) is the visible presence, the vision of the Divine, the cosmic symbol for the Supreme. He is the Divine light and presence that fills all the worlds. ..

Surya is possibly the most Vedic God. In the Rg Veda, he is worshiped as Savitr. As the source of life, light and warmth. He is also the source of inner enlightenment as the famous Gayatri mantra suggests…”

Re-Spiritualization of Human Society for Peace and Love – Vedic Literature Offers Hope

“Human society, at the present moment, is not in the darkness of oblivion. It has made rapid progress in the field of material comforts, education and economic development throughout the entire world. But there is a pinprick somewhere in the social body at large, and therefore there are large-scale quarrels, even over less important issues.

There is need of a clue as to how humanity can become one in peace, friendship and prosperity with a common cause. Srimad-Bhägavatam (the Vedic literature), will fill this need, for it is a cultural presentation for the respiritualization of the entire human society.”

World-Peace Srimad Bhagavatam

In the Varāha Purāṇa it is said:

(from Amnaya Sutra of Srila Bhaktivinode)

sarve nityāḥ śāśvatāś ca devād yasya parātmanaḥ
heyopadeya-rahitāḥ naiva prakṛtijāḥ kvacit

“All the varied expansions of the Personality of Godhead are transcendental and eternal, and all of them repeatedly descend to all the different universes of the material creation. Their bodies, composed of eternity, bliss, and knowledge, are everlasting. There is no chance of their decaying, for they are not creations of the material world. Their forms are concentrated spiritual existence, always complete with all spiritual qualities and devoid of material contamination.”*
